actually i believe the lore is that shiro actually uses swords, the daggers are more of a side item he has but doesnt use ... kinda like if u swords got knockd outta ur hand [doesnt happen] then what would u use ...

They used to be 15. I think Anet wants to keep them such that only sassis can use them.

Besides, assassins look like crap (my main used to be one), they don't deserve to be the only primary class able to use such a cool weapon, it's wasted on them!

Are they incapable of putting a "Usable by Assassin primary only" flag on an item or something, so that they have to resort to this half-assed "solution"?

When have you ever seen a weapon restricted to being used by only one profession? The requirement has always been their way of restricting who gets to use a weapon.

What do you mean "the requirement has always been their way of restricting who gets to use a weapon"? Shiro's Blades are the only green items I know of that use this idiot system. How difficult would it be to adapt the customization ability into a way of limiting which primary can use an item? Just a change from "who can use" to "which can use".

But why THESE blades? Surely it's easy enough to duplicate, minus the skin, obviously. I've never understood why this is the only green item with such a high requirement.

Can a secondary warrior use a shield with a strength requirement? Can a secondary monk use a focus with a divine favour requirement? Didn't think so.

I saw Shiro's blade used to have 5/-1 vampiric mod. But since A-net standard all those green.Dont know why they dont turn it to req 9 like the other greens.

There's something else that people aren't thinking about. Sassis get bonuses from critical hits and having a higher req means more crits and a slightly higher base damage.

Perhaps because of the attribute investment, but not because of the requirement. If they wanted extra damage & more critical hits, they'd spec 13+ with or without the low requirement.

I suspect that the high requirement was because of "lore", being that only someone who is as skilled as Shiro at wielding the weapons can use them properly. And I really don't know why they'd only want to restrict them to the primary class, since Shiro isn't an assassin. I wouldn't mind dropping down the requirement, since neither lore nor class limitations are really compelling reasons to maintain the status quo.
